People here will tell you that our winters are terrible, that they're nothing but cold and gray for three months, nonstop. For a long time I agreed with them, but when a single ray of sun threatens to blow your cover, you end up loving the harsh winters in this part of the country. The problem is that springtime always comes around again. When morning broke during the last few days of March, there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I walked to school, and to my great relief, the shadow in front of me seemed to be my own.
